Interesting sights and a multitude of ways to spend a perfect holiday!
Black Forest Nature Park (mid-/north part) and namely the region around the city of Calw offer a wide variety of possibilities to spend your holiday, from sporting or cultural activities to perfect relaxation or just having fun and enjoying yourself. The region is especially interesting for those who love hiking or cycling!
In case you prefer short hikes, you'll find a lot of well-marked trails nearby. For excursions by car or motorbike we can provide you with "roadbooks". If you like cycling, you can lend bikes from us (also two ebikes) and we'll get you maps of the area.
Hiking
Among the many attractive destinations for excursions, "Zavelstein Castle" has to be recommended, especially during spring, when countless crocus flowers in the surrounding meadows are in full bloom. Another famous place to visit is the historical city of Calw, birthplace of world-famous writer and novelist Hermann-Hesse, with its historic market square and decorative half-timber houses. Try an excursion to the ancient monastery ruin of Calw-Hirsau, venue and setting for the "Klosterspiele", an annual open-air festival of music and theatre ( https://klostersommer.de ). Other destinations include the romantic Roetelbach valley (the trail leading down to Kentheim with its cute little church, more than a thousand years old), or through the nearby woods, around the "Zigeunerberg" to a compound for wild hogs, as well as the nature reserve of Weckenhardt.
Only recently a new premium class hiking trail for savourers (Geniesserpfad) has been established. Enjoy this very well-marked trail which leads through lush forests and meadows and along whispering creeks to great view points.
And finally, we recommend the romantic Monbach gorge, a well-known favourite for hikers.
Nordic-Walking
We offer guided nordic-walking tours and will provide you with equipment if required.
Cycling
Whether mountain or road bike - Black Forest offers a lot of possibilities for both kinds. On cycling routes along the rivers or through the woods you'll always find interesting view points or an inviting bench for a well-deserved rest. The cycle route along the river Nagold, from the city of Nagold to Pforzheim and back on the cycle route along the river Enz are very rewarding day trips.
For the ambitious sporting biker we recommend the Bad Wildbad Bikepark with its World Cup downhill track.
Bikes can be rented here for 5 Euros per day and now NEW also ebikes for 20 Euros a day.
Swimming, bathing, thermal spas
Only 5 km from our place there's the thermal spa of Bad Teinach-Zavelstein. There's a bus connection to Bad Liebenzell's Paracelsus-spa. The famous spa in Bad Wildbad tempts you with its very special sensual ambience. (Palais Thermal)
For families with children we recommend the "Panoramabad" in Freudenstadt which offers various pools, a slide, a diving platform as well as sauna and gastronomic facilities.
The lake of "Nagoldtalsperre" (a dammed-up river) is a great place for a swim in beautiful nature and for getting your holiday tan.

In case "great heights" make you dizzy, we instead recommend a hike to the "Wildsee" moor of Kaltenbronn (via Gruenhuette) and back to Bad Wildbad by bus.
Kaltenbronn The famous hike to the moor (948 m above sea level)! Enjoy the grand view from Hohloh-Tower.
Kleines Enztal idyllic, only very sparsely populated valley along a branch stream of the river Enz. You may take a little side trip to Poppeltal and its giant slide in middle of the woods - great fun for the entire family! www.riesenrutschbahn.de

Day trip to Schwarzwaldhochstraße via Freudenstadt, Ruhestein, incl. possible hikes to Darmstaedter Huette, Seekopf (1054m), Mummelsee, Hornisgrinde (1164m), Kniebis (938m), Schliffkopf (1004m), and perhaps an attractive side trip to Sasbachwalden.
Allerheiligen historic site with ruined monastery and famous water cascadess.
Schwarzenbachtalsperre Have a swim or take a paddle boat trip on the lake of the dammed Schwarzenbach creek.
